Overview

Helium sits at the intersection of wireless and blockchain technology, solving the real-world problem of internet access for all. Our community has built the world’s fastest-growing wireless network with praise from mainstream media. The network is now global in over 65,000+ cities and 180 countries with a vibrant ecosystem of community members building and using the Helium Network.

We are looking for a General Counsel to support the Foundation across a variety of legal areas including regulatory, tax, employment, and commercial use. You're excited by decentralized networks, the innovations driven by blockchain technology, and have some experience in Web3 or actively follow the space.

This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to help guide an industry changing project that has positive sentiment from public sector officials, momentum with large enterprises, and includes a variety of social good initiatives to improve underserved economies.

We're open to a range of applicants at this time from mid-career to senior.
Title and compensation will be commensurate with experience and expertise.

Your Role

  • Oversee, and provide counsel on, all legal matters for the Helium Foundation.
  • Maintain current knowledge on the blockchain industry’s evolving regulatory landscape.
  • Help us create and evolve a framework for commercial engagement with Helium's permissionless network.
  • Manage work with outside counsels including tax (ensuring our non-profit compliance) as well as regulatory, commercial, patents, and IP.
  • Create and/or update all standardized forms and agreements across the Foundation grant program, governing committees, Foundation membership, and any other relevant partnerships or collaborations.
  • Oversee appropriate terms of use and disclaimers for the Helium Network.
  • Support initiatives related to Government Affairs.
  • Support internal People/HR needs for employee and contractor matters.

Requirements

  • At least 5+ years serving as either in-house or outside counsel.
    Note: we're considering applicants from mid-career to senior (compensation will appropriately match experience)
  • Background in a relevant area of work -- priority around regulatory, commercial, or non-profit experience
  • Ability to comprehend new technologies quickly and adapt in a dynamic environment
  • Comfortable advising in areas of legal ambiguity
  • Incredible attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills as a writer and speaker
